I usually feel very strongly that we (the U.S.) has too liberal a receiving policy. But as a mother all I can think of is that the poor little boy's mother gave her life trying to get him to our shores in hopes of a better life for herself and the boy and I think in this case we should honor her wishes for the Elian.

Unless this child's father has abused him in some way; I can't understand why he wasn't immediately returned to him. There has been no evidence of any kind of abuse; so why hasn't he been returned?????
