AWARDS
The Bridgeport News is a back-to-back winner of the West Virginia Press
Association?s Better Newspaper Contest. The paper received the General Excellence Award
in 2001 and 2002. Also, The Bridgeport News , in its first year of competition, won the
2001 top honor, the General Excellence Award, for advertising in a contest sponsored by
the West Virginia Press Association, and finished third in 2002. The honors in
writing and advertising were for weekly newspapers.
Media outlet and sponsor for the "Track to the Future" project, media outlet for
the Wayne Jamison Field Turf Project and the official publication of The Michael Benedum
Festival.
