FAIRMONT -- Joann Ely, 40, of College Street, Barrackville, died Sunday afternoon, June 28, 1998, at Ruby Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Marion County, a daughter of Charles F. and Maxine Hardway Hullderman, Barrackville.
Her husband of 21 years, David Brent Ely, survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Christopher Brent Ely, Brian Todd Ely and Alan Randall Ely, all at home; one sister and brother-in-law, Roesmary and Marvin Faulkner, Fairmont; one brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Debi Hullderman, Bunner Ridge; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Mrs. Ely was a member of the Church of Christ in Barrackville. She worked at MooreÕs Auction Barn in Monumental and was a homemaker. She enjoyed raising roses, riding and taking care of her horse and collecting antique novelties.
ALMA -- Gertrude E. Reed, 86, of Shirley, died Saturday, June 27, 1998, in Wetzel County Hospital, New Martinsville.
She was born Nov. 6, 1911, in Tyler County, a daughter of the late Jacob D. and Victoria White Smith.
Her husband, Kenneth Dale Reed, preceded her in death in 1977.
Surviving are two sons, Dennis L. Reed and Robert B. Reed, both of Shirley; one brother, Dale E. Smith, Port St. Lucie, Fla.; two sisters, Wanda Smith, Parkersburg, and Arta Weekley, Wilbur; and four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one brother.
Mrs. Reed was a homemaker and a member of the Cedar Grove Church of Christ in Shirley.
UNIONTOWN, Ohio -- Donald James Shingleton, 64, died Friday, June 26, 1998, at Akron, Ohio.
He was born Oct. 18, 1933, in Harrison County, a son of Harold Shingleton and Cleo Cunningham Shingleton.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Michael (Darlene) Morrin, Toledo, Ohio, and Mrs. Chris (Donna) Bruner, North Canton, Ohio; one son, Tim, Canal Fulton, Ohio; one sister, Gwen; three brothers, Fred, Bob and June; and five grandchildren.
Mr. Shingleton was a teacher for Green schools system at Green, Ohio, retiring with over 30 years of service. He was a member of the Uniontown United Methodist Church.
SALEM -- Edward J. "Chick" Walters, 81, of Route 3, Miletus community, died early Sunday morning, June 28, 1998, at United Hospital Center following a brief illness.
He was born Dec. 16, 1916, near Bridgeport, a son of the late Herbert E. Walters and Edna B. Walters.
For the past 20 years, Mr. Walters made his home with Olan and Pauline Cumberledge, whom he referred to as "pop" and "mom."
The body will be cremated.
PHILIPPI -- Lillian Anna Hamilton Zelinsky, 79, a resident of Route 1, Volga, died at 2:09 a.m. Sunday, June 28, 1998, at United Hospital Center, Clarksburg.
She was born Nov. 18, 1918, in Taylor County, a daughter of the late Alexsander and Lillian Hetz Hamilton.
Her husband, Scotty Zelinsky, whom she married in July of 1943, preceded her in death in 1967.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Jack (Peggy) Nestor, Moundsville, and Mrs. Tim (Alexis) Payne, Volga, with whom she made her home; one son, Michael G. Zelinsky, Century 1; one brother, Arthur Hamilton, Wheeling; and 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Richard "Butch" Shroyer; one grandson, Timothy Scott Payne and one brother, Richard Hamilton.
In earlier years, Mrs. Zelinsky was a school teacher. She retired in 1983 as a social worker at Weston State Hospital. She was United Methodist.
